Hi, My name is Amalia Alvarez, I come from Abyayala, the continent that colonization knows as America.
I was born in the driest desert in the world, in a native family. The motivation to write and draw is connected to my origin as a native, the history of resistance by my ancestors against the processes of colonisation and the capitalisation of territories, among others.
Some call me an artist, I always say that I ́m an anti-racist activist that create comics. Normally I work in the genres of social realism, journalistic and Documentary Comics, and satire. The themes of my comics mainly focus on racism/antiracism, representativity, migration, social issues, and class. Often through an intersectional perspective. 🙏🏽
